From crisis comes change – for the good!
MCRAG’s formation was borne out of and in response to the 2009 Black Saturday Bushfires which began in Kilmore East, centrally located in our Shire. MCRAG’s initial role was to spear head the Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority (VBBRA) initiative of Community Recovery for the Mitchell Shire.
As time has passed, and the initial role of MCRAG has diminished there was/is a realisation amongst MCRAG’s members that there is still a role for this group for further development of the ‘health and wellbeing’ within the Mitchell community. This realisation is now the driving force behind MCRAG’s transformation from a sole bushfire focus to becoming a Shire-wide community resources and advocacy group.
MCRAG and its members are committed to initiating and driving real change to thequality of life for all in the Mitchell community.
MCRAG and its members are firm believers in the philosophy of “By Community for Community”. We have seen the great difference that support, resources and encouragement does make to individuals and groups wanting to grow positive change in their Community.
